Import

danger

Don't click on the import button before you validate the user data and make sure it has no issues.

Once the data is uploaded, validated, and has no issues, you can import it by clicking on the import button.

After importing the user data, you can see the import results under Status.

note

The import is subject to your permissions, so creating or updating users outside your scope will fail. Importing and setting up the users may take a while, please be patient.

General tab

Under this tab, you can review and edit the general information of the users import.

Add users tab

Under this tab, you upload the Excel file with the user data to import.

Note that the Excel file must contain the user information using the field names, types, and formats exactly as defined in the LMS.

You can download a template that contains all the required data fields, types, and formats.

note

You can import user data only for users included in your scope. For example: specific division admin can upload user data only of users within that division. Users outside the admin's scope performing the import, will not be updated.

Added users tab

Under this tab, you can review, download, or clear the user data.

If the uploaded user data has issues or warnings, you can see here which of the users has them, and what are they. You can also click on "Download invalid" to download an Excel file of the invalid users.

There are two possible ways to fix invalid users:

  1. Fix the invalid users in the original Excel file, click on "Clear all", and re-upload the file. Don't forget to validate the data again after you re-upload it.
  2. Click on "Download invalid" to download an Excel with the invalid users, fix the errors, and upload this file. Don't forget to validate the data again after you uploaded it.

Download template

You can download a template of the required data fields, types, and formats, to use as a reference when creating the user data Excel to import.

You can download the template from the imports front page, or from the Add users tab of the import.

It is important that all the field names, types, and formats will be exactly as they are in the provided template in order for the import to work.

If you followed all the requirements from the template and still having errors/warnings you don't understand, please contact Datafisher support team.
