Base + Renewal training

Navigate: Content > Search Content or + Icon > Base + Renewal training

Base + Renewal training connects two contents: a base training and a renewal training. The base training is completed first; the renewal training is used when the base training expires.

info

Use Base + Renewal training when learners should complete a full training first, then repeat a shorter renewal training for a limited period before starting again from the base training.

How Base + Renewal training works

Any learner with a valid completion for either the base content or the renewal content is granted a completion for the Base + Renewal training.

When expiration time is set on the Base + Renewal training, it defines the maximum period during which the training can be renewed. After that maximum validity period ends, the learner must complete the base training again.

Base and renewal contents

The Base + Renewal training tab contains two required fields:

  • Base training content – the longer base training learners complete first.
  • Renewal training content – the shorter renewal training learners complete after the base training expires.

Both fields select existing content items.

Expiration example

Given these settings:

  • Base training – expires in 5 years.
  • Renewal training – expires in 2 years.
  • Base + Renewal training – expires in 10 years.

The learner flow is:

  1. The learner completes the base training, valid for 5 years.
  2. After 5 years, the learner completes the renewal training, valid for 2 years.
  3. After 2 more years, the learner completes the renewal training again, valid for 2 years.
  4. After 2 more years, the learner completes the renewal training again, but it is valid for only 1 year because the Base + Renewal training maximum validity is 10 years.

After the 10-year maximum validity period, the learner must start again from the base training.

Limitations

Base + Renewal training cannot be set as manually completed.
